Lisa Pereira (whose name I just learned today) is in this week's My Style in Now. She is a cool record store chik in my neighbourhood (She Said Boom). Check out her My Style at Now that explains what she's all about. One part Hopey Glass, one part Joan Jett. It's nice to meet interesting people in your neighbourhood who are doing cool things. A Ramones cover band? Well hell that must be awesome.

Carmen Elle will be famous

v. to be liked as a friend only by a member of the opposite sex after persuing them in a romantic way (especially after mistakenly perceiving a relationship that was going to flourish after patience). A misunderstanding between two people who each have different ideas about the love between them. Comes from the choice of a girl who you thought loved you so you devoted a lot of your time to them in the hope of romance only to be denied by that person in favour of the "other" known as Marcel.

Carmen Yanuziello (aka Carmen Elle) is a young talent that Toronto will be famous for one day. She's a very talented and funny person (who just happens to be the coolest video store kid I've ever known). She seems to channel both the musical expression of Feist and Martha Wainwright and the subtle melancholy of Ron Sexsmith. Be sure to check out her myspace page for info about her upcoming performances and also to hear samples from her yet unsigned demo. It's just a matter of time before I start spouting "Oh I knew her when" stories. Good luck, kid!
